South Carolina State Flag


The South Carolina state flag has blue which was chosen to match the color of Revolutionary troops’ uniforms and the crescent resembles the silver emblem worn on the front of their caps. The palm tree represents the heroic defense of Sullivan’s Island. Adopted in 1861, Statehood on May 23, .1788
