The Kentucky state flag contains the state's seal which depicts a pioneer and a statesman embracing. Popular belief claims that the man on the left is Daniel Boone, who was largely responsible for the exploration of Kentucky, and the man on the left is Henry Clay, Kentucky’s most famous statesman. Adopted in 1918. Statehood on June 1, 1792.
